Gmina Legnickie Pole to miejsce o głębokim znaczeniu dla historii Polski i Śląska. To tu w 1241 roku rozegrała się słynna bitwa pod Legnicą, podczas której wojska księcia Henryka II Pobożnego stawiły czoła najazdowi mongolskiemu. Niestety, książę zginął w tej bitwie, a jego śmierć na zawsze wpisała się w historię regionu. W hołdzie poległym, księżna Anna, żona Henryka, pod wpływem św. Jadwigi Śląskiej, ufundowała klasztor benedyktyński wraz z kościołem, który miał upamiętniać bohaterów i umacniać wiarę mieszkańców.

The Municipality of Legnickie Pole is a place of profound significance to the history of Poland and Silesia. It was here, in 1241, that the famous Battle of Legnica took place, during which the forces of Duke Henry II the Pious confronted the Mongol invasion. Sadly, the Duke was killed in the battle, and his death became permanently etched in the history of the region. In tribute to the fallen, Duchess Anna, Henry’s wife, inspired by Saint Hedwig of Silesia, founded a Benedictine monastery along with a church intended to commemorate the heroes and strengthen the faith of the local community.
